São Gonçalo (RJ) é uma cidade um tanto ou quanto movimentada. De segunda a segunda, vive uma rotina frenética que vai do caos urbano ao simples prazer de se “fazer do limão uma limonada”. E é neste cenário que surge a banda The Wonderful Now, com um indie rock que desafia convenções e métodos; que oscila entre o ruído e a calmaria, em canções dinâmicas, com poucos versos, muitas metáforas, e um instrumental melancólico.
O grupo, formado em 2018, por Elton de Souza (Voz), Gabriel Costa (Guitarra), Karinne Almeida (Guitarra), Matheus Justem (Bateria) e Yuri Martins (Baixo), acaba de lançar o seu primeiro EP [There’s No Place Like Home]: gravado, mixado e masterizado em casa; composto de quatro faixas autorais, que flertam com o midwest emo, post-rock, dream pop e math rock.
Como o título já sugere em sua tradução [não há lugar como o lar], a obra propicia reflexão acerca do que é familiar (do que se conhece ou se presume conhecer) e do que é estranho; incomum (do que foge ao convívio). Trata de relações de causa e efeito referentes a processos de distanciamento e, sobretudo, à sensação de pertencimento.
Se você curte American Football, E a Terra Nunca me Pareceu tão Distante, Prawn, TTNG, Two Door Cinema Club, Wild Nothing e afins, provavelmente gostará de ouvir The Wonderful Now.
